5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable Picture Quality, April 5, 2009
By James M. Lane "JML" (Wilton, CT USA)

I purchased this item last week 3-27-09 without the luxury of any reviews posted.. Just the picture I saw at B.B... I also purchased the Blue Ray player... The picture on this TV is Awesome... Better than I expected. Get the Blue Ray... I watched a movie on it the other night... Never knew what I was missing! This TV has all the bells & whistles as the 46A850 model with the upgrade to 100,000 : 1 contrast ratio. Sound is great. Picture is great... Easy to set up... Delivery from Amazon better than expected. Had people over to watch the final 4 NCAA last night... One gentleman kept walking up to the TV & asking his wife why his new SONY didn't look even close to this... Swivel stand is also Key to me... Red touch of color is not noticeable unless you look very close... Then you appreciate it! Hope this helps... Happy shopping

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this TV, April 5, 2009
By Dorothy N. Campbell "Dorothy" (Philadelphia, PA USA)

This TV has an astounding picture quality. Read all of the reviews of the A model, listened to sales people in the store and went with the B which is the 2009 model. I am not a techie so you will need to look elsewhere for that but I would highly recommend this TV. One little note, the manual is located on a Flashdrive that plugs into the TV. Hooked up the digital camera to show pictures. It was easy, I didn't even need to refer to the directions. This TV has features we will probably never use but it is well equipped.

5.0 out of 5 stars B650 vs.A650, April 10, 2009
By ebay8503 (Ohio)

It should be noted that I have not purchased this TV. I did spend several hours comparing the two versions at Best Buy and this is what I found: The B650 has a MUCH clearer picture. And by "clearer", I mean more defined with a sharper contrast, brighter whites and darker darks. I attribute this to the doubling of the contrast ratio. The A650 has a 50,000:1 whereas the B650 has 100,000:1. For those that do not know about contrast, the contrast ratio measures how many stages there are between the darkest dark to the whitest white a crystal can do. The problem is that the manufacturers do NOT use the same standard for what "dark" really is. Additionally, their darkest dark is measured when the tv is OFF - not very helpful since you're not seeing how dark the crystal can actually get. The B650 looked like a HD set while the A650 looked like a regular flatscreen. I had the salesman put both tvs with the same settings to compare the two realistically. I also looked for the motion and "ghosting" that occurs when action is moving. For this test, I looked closely at a soccer game being displayed on the two tvs. Again the B650 did not show quite as much "trailing" that the A650 did. Although both sets were 120hz, the B650 out shown the A650 hands down. The refresh rate (how long the crystal takes to go from white, to dark, back to white again) for both of these sets is 4ms; but the B650 seemed to have a much more fluid motion - much like if you were watching real life. I am going to hold out some more to see if the price of these go down, but I am definitely going to purchase the B650 instead of the A650. Honestly, the best way is to go to Best Buy and see for yourself. Don't be afraid to ask the sales people to adjust the color and contrast for you. ALSO, BB's newest kick is these new LED tvs. My salesman tried to sell me one, but they're not selling you an LED TV. What they're selling you is a backlit LED tv. A real LED tv costs $2500+ for an 11" monitor. In my opinion, the B650 looked pretty comparable to the LED backlit he was trying to sell me. Hope this helps someone decide which version you go with.

5.0 out of 5 stars samsung ln46b650, April 4, 2009
By R. Song "Rich" (san diego, ca usa)

awesome picture quality. aesthetically pleasing bezel. (the red doesn't stand out too much, if you're worried about it clashing with your furniture or whatever.) haven't tried to watch a bluray yet, but even crappy quality movies from my computer (480p) look great. the 120hz and 100000:1 contrast ratio make for a realistic viewing experience. also has ethernet jack for the internet interface (weather, downloads etc) a nice little extra. i am definitely satisfied with the purchase.
